Lin-Manuel Miranda - the Tony and Grammy award winning author, composer, and star of the broadway pop culture phenomenon Hamilton - has never been afraid to talk politics, and is not shying away from political advocacy both on and off Broadway in this election cycle. Sharing “I’m going to be trying to get out the Latino vote as hard as possible,” Miranda said last week in an interview with The Daily Beast.
Elaborating saying “Our issues are on the table, from Puerto Rico to a wall to keep half of us out being a [Republican] Party platform. It’s important we get out and vote.”
In a major win the Hillary Campaign ... Miranda's putting his money where his mouth is ... better said ... he's feels "History has it's eyes on [Mrs. Hillary Clinton]" and s helping her campaign raise a lot of money!
The Clinton campaign announced on Saturday that an extra performance of the Broadway hit has been scheduled on July 12 as a fundraiser for the presumptive Democratic nominee via an email sent to supporters.
“When I first saw the musical Hamilton last year, I was blown away,” the email read. “It’s an incredible feat of storytelling about the fight for the heart and soul of our very nation. It’s a look at history that feels immediately relevant today. It’s a beautiful piece of art with empathy to spare.”
Organized by the Hillary Victory Fund, seats for the matinee performance start at $2,700 (honestly cheaper than what some scalpers are asking) and go up to $100,000 to be an “Event Chair” which gets you two premium seats, a wrap party with Clinton and “other special guests,” and an invite to the Democratic National Convention. Tickets are available on Clinton's website if that's how you roll and want to contribute. You can also enter to win a free trip and tickets on the campaign's dime. Hamilton is seriously one of the best things we've ever seen on stage. We don't know about you, but we're "not throwing away our shot" to be "in the room where it happens." #HamilHillz
